YWPA

Young Women in Public Affairs Program

Young Woman in
Leadership Award

Established in the 1990-1992 Biennium, the purpose of the YWPA Program is to encourage young women to think of themselves as global citizens, and public affairs as a career option.  The Zonta Club of Westchester's Status of Women Committee is proud to announce our 2010 recipient of the the Young Woman of Leadership Award,  Suzanne Leslie.

Suzanne Leslie is a Ossining High School senior. Her immediate goal is to attend college to study biology and realize her dream to become a Secondary Education Biology teacher.  Suzanne is a member of the National Honor Society and the Regional Youth Leadership Organization: participates in the Radio Club, Environmental Club and the Interact Club, which organizes food drives, supports special needs children and recently held a duck race to raise money for a water project in Honduras.

The Young Woman in Public Affairs Awards recognize pre-university and pre-college women students committed to leadership in public policy, government and volunteer organizations.

The Zonta Club of Westchester is seeking applicants for the 2010 Young Women in Public Affairs Award in the Westchester Area.

The individual selected by the Zonta Club of Westchester, as their Young Women in Public Affairs Award winner, will receive $1000 from the club.

The winner will then be the club's candidate for the Zonta District 3 Young Women in Public Affairs Award and, if selected by the District, will win an additional $500.

If the Zonta Club of Westchester's candidate wins the District Award, she is automatically entered into the Zonta International competition and may win an additional $1000 award.
